Client: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)
Partnered with: Northrop Grumman
Project: Supporting LAPD’s Regional Video Command Center (RVCC)
Role: Project Management, Technical Operations Hardware and Software Support, Training and Command Center Support
Along with Northrup Grumman, our team provided 24/7 software and hardware support. In order to collect data, we engineered the instrumentation and monitoring processes and implemented them on the Cisco Catalyst switches and ASA firewalls. Our Cisco certified personnel provided reconfiguration, testing, and maintenance of Cisco Firewalls, and Cisco Switches used in the RVCC system. Our certified Dell Server and HP workstation experts were responsible for maintaining optimal server operations, troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware related computer issues. Our team was responsible to deliver a 5-year IT Plan (software, systems and hardware) to the LAPD. E.K. Associates also delivered the network and security architecture for an organic expansion of the RVCC network to encompass the Pacific Community police station. We conducted site surveys, evaluated the needs of the end-users, and recommended a solution. The “Pacific” spur expansion project included new switches and firewall that were seamlessly integrated into the existing RVCC network. Our staff provided the expertise to deliver a complete layer2 and layer3 IP design with interfaces into the City of LA’s MPLS network and the microwave repeater stations. We also designed and implemented the IPsec tunnels from the new location at Pacific Community Station to the central hub at City Hall East. This secure tunnel allows personnel at Pacific to monitor video feeds from cameras on the RVCC network. We designed the entire network architecture, provided technical documentation and trained the users. This project was delivered without any interruption to the current operational status of the RVCC network, all while providing an optimal level of security, reliability and performance.
Our services also included:
- Providing expert level monitoring of all network elements that comprised the RVCC network
- Providing regularly scheduled, detailed analysis and summary reports for network performance
- Providing weekly and monthly reports that capture CPU utilization, memory use, traffic profiles, layer 2 and 3 performance, logs, environmental measurements, and availability metrics.
